Lost in Directories

If you have ever worked on someones old PC you probably know of messy and confusing directories where it just seems like some one arbitrarily makes new folders and sub-folders for what seems like no reason. Well if you know the pain that cause you of course are sure to never let yours get that way.... Well I tried but damned if my own FTP Servers root directory wasn't completely screwed up beyond belief. So like the once a year cleaning of the desk I decided to organize my ftp server. So starting out it goes okay. make a few directories. One for clients another for what I called "side projects" (screw off toys and such). All looked good copy and pasting here there and everywhere and before I new it YAY it all looks nice and neat. Go to fix a spelling error on my about.html page and damned if it would load??? Confused I tried everything but once i realized the mess I made I was none to pleased. The permissions on my linux file server were so screwed up I didnt even no where to start. 777, 755, 775, 746, it was a freaking parade for every permissions type possible. So being the lazy bastard I am I reverted it back to a previous version of the server and decided to go about it the right way. So all is said and done and what have I got.... A direcory I cant find shit it, a whole nights worth of billable hours wasted, and a mess for tomorrow...... TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!
